Wisbech’s Fenland Gymnastics Academy has two county champions and five into regional finals
Fenland Gymnastics Academy from Wisbech had a fantastic start to the 2016 competition season by crowning two county champions and five gymnasts through to regional finals after competing in the Cambridgeshire County Club Grades on Saturday in Huntingdon.
In the Compulsory 6 competition, girl’s aged 7 competed against each other in their first county competition. FGA managed to get a clean sweep with Talia Craigen becoming county champion, Amber Sutton in second, Eve White in third and Harriet Clark in fourth, all four gymnasts performed beautifully.
Next in Club Grade 6 aged 8, Ebonie Goode walked away with a Distinction and 6th place and Kaci Adams received a Commended and 10th place. In age 9/10, Emilija Stonkute performed beautifully to gain a Distinction and second place.
Moving onto Club Grade 5 aged 10/11, Isabella Brownlow and Lily Gowler both achieved distinctions and came away with second and third respectively. Kacia Craigen performed well to get a Commended and fourth position. Skye Dawson competed in the age 12+ category and received a distinction and became County Champion.
In the Regional Grade 4 competition aged 10 years, Molly Wake and Paige Markham both performed beautifully to receive Distinctions and came away with 7th and third respectively.
Next in the Regional Grade 3 competition aged 11/12 years, Leona Ryan received a Pass and 17th place, Emma Elam received a Distinction and 9th place and Maddie Goode received a Distinction and fourth place overall. In the 13+ age group, Katie Grant performed well to receive a Commended and second place overall.
Finally in the Regional Grade 1 competition which was the highest Grade of the day, Khiaeasa Dilley competed in the age 15+ group and received a Commended and second place overall.
Emilija Stonkute, Isabella Brownlow, Lily Gowler, Paige Markham and Khiaeasa Dilley all scored high enough in this competition that they have now qualified for the East Regional Finals, which will take place on May 1. This is a fantastic achievement and we look forward to seeing how they get on.
Head coach Claire Stock said: “I am extremely pleased with the results from the County Grades competition, all our gymnasts performed beautifully and the results really reflect that.
“Our team of volunteer coaches have worked very hard getting the gymnasts ready for the competition and walking away with two county champions, 10 medals and five gymnasts through to regional finals is a great reward for us all. We are now looking forward to the National Grades and Compulsory competitions later on this month.”
