Wisbech swimmers make their mark at long-course event in Luton




The 2025 Swim England East Region Long Course Championships drew to a close in Luton, with some fantastic results for swimmers from Wisbech Swimming Club.

The event, which takes place over a number of weekends, saw Wisbech represented by six swimmers competing in a total of 24 events.

With the event pitting entrants against the best swimmers from Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex, just qualifying for the Championships is an achievement in itself.

The swimmers that represented Wisbech were: Arabella Tysterman, Lilly Wright, Maisie Bishop, Oscar Muller (all competing in the 11/12 age group), Holly Smith (13 age group) and Poppy Ryan (14 age group).

Between them, they achieved a fantastic 21 long-course personal bests from 24 events, making eight finals and 11 top-10 finishes in the process.

The undoubted star of the show for Wisbech was Oscar Muller, who made six finals, eight top-10 finishes and won a fantastic bronze medal in the 200m breaststroke event.

Special mentions also go to Lilly Wright, who was placed fourth in the 50m butterfly and Poppy Ryan, who was placed eighth in the final of the 200m breaststroke.
