More than 100 National Bangers expected to compete

Another big night of National Banger Racing will be taking place at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena this Saturday night (5.30pm) when team racing will take centre stage.

More than 100 National Bangers are expected to battle it out over two of the biggest team titles in the sport – the fantastic Unlimited Banger War of the Worlds and the 1500cc Banger East Anglian Teams.

A change to the points structure for both competitions will see only the top three drivers in each race score points towards the competition.

This is to hopefully increase the action on track as drivers will not be able to build up points scores with a save sixth or eighth place finish and will instead have to force the issue and make sure their drivers are in the top three in each race by whatever means possible!

The majority of Fenland representation will be in the 1500cc Bangers with Dan Clarke being the only driver in action in the Unlimited class where he will be racing in the Texas Tornadoes.

The Export Crew will have high hopes of getting some silverware in the 1500cc Banger East Anglian Final. The team have already had success in team events this year and managed a top three finish in the 1500cc Banger Icebreaker at the start of the season.

Following that success the team have managed to make a name for themselves on the national circuit with members Lee Horwood and Lee Barnes in particular impressing with Horwood zooming up the grades to reach blue top and Barnes recently winning the final in the 4x4 SUV Bangers. With Horwood also comfortable qualifying for the 2L Banger World Final as well as sitting prettily in sixth place out of over 300 drivers in the entertainer league it has certainly been a good year for the team members. The Export Crew are entering two teams into Saturday’s competition with the A Team comprising entirely of Wisbech names and as well as Barnes and Horwood will see team manager Ricky O Neill getting back behind the wheel and with the team also including the always speedy and dangerous Dan Wright they could very well feature highly on Saturday night. Local star Jamie Roberts also makes up part of the B Team.

Team Allsorts will see new ramp rollover champion Jack Licquorice make up part of the team and this team could well be a big contender for the entertainer league which runs parallel to the main competition.

Completing the action are the Junior Bangers where Louie Cottrill and Lennie Murkin who have both made good starts to the 2019 campaign will be looking to continue their good form whils Declan Wakeham will be making his 2019 debut and only his second appearance in the formula.
