Inbetweeners lose to Trojans in latest Wisbech Table Tennis League fixtures
In the Wisbech Table Tennis Premier Division, Inbetweeners faced a strong Trojans line-up including man of the match Wayne Mason and found it an impossible task.
Trojans ran out 9-1 winners with Mason and David Lemmon both scoring maximums, whilst Steve Mason lost only to Clive Welsman.
Eagles travelled to Alive Lynnsport and sprinted through to a 7-3 victory over Pegg Scaffolding, with man-of-the-match Owen Turner scoring a maximum.
This week Exiles drew the short straw and hosted Elsworth, who once again ran away with a 10-0 victory. Jaroslaw Chrzanowski scored a straight sets maximum.
Nets & Edges hosted Wizards on one of their more formidable nights.
Wizards won 10-0, with man of the match Brett Heppenstall in very impressive form for a straight sets maximum.
On paper, a First Division game between Batmen and Wanderers looked a close match – but Mark Littlechild scored a very good maximum and won the doubles with
Vaughan Parker to secure a draw.
Basement boys 5 Stars B equalled their best result of the season in losing to Ramblers 7-3. For this, they had to thank man-of-the-match Alfie Yarrow, who scored a very good maximum.
Ramblers each scored two as Mark Spinks, Tim Hines and Judy Hodgson proved too experienced for Callum Burton and Rhianna Patrick, with the former taking an end off Hodgson and Patricklosing one end 20-18 against Mark.
Ramblers also won the doubles.
Spartans showed their destructive class with an overwhelming 10-0 victory over 5 Stars A.
Man of the match Andy Bayes, David Hughes and Gordon Lyttle all scored maximums, before Andy and Gordon won the doubles to complete the rout.
5 Stars A had some close ends, but just were not allowed a foothold on the night.
A Warlords and Stingers top of the table clash resulted in a very close win for Warlords 6-4.
However, no one could stop man of the match Chris Gay from attaining a very good maximum.
Warlords took their points from wins Guntars Briedis (2) and Kevin Buck (2) had over both Paul Reed and Igors Scekalevs and a Peter Munch win over Paul.
