March lady footballers enjoying lockdown fitness challenge

With the football season prematurely ended due to coronavirus, March Town Ladies coach Gary Davis has set up a Strava Challenge Group.

He dared the players, coaches and supporters to use their outdoor exercise time to focus on running, walking and cycling.

Although the aim is to stay fit, the club is also offering prizes for best effort, fastest running mile and other challenges.

In the first week, the total miles were a reasonable 133, but by week four it was a massive 371 miles.

Gary said: "The Hares have just passed 1,000 miles in four weeks, which is a fantastic effort. It is keeping players' fitness up but also keeps immune systems up and improves mental wellbeing for all involved, giving people something to focus on.

"With the lockdown continuing for at least another three weeks, it would be great to pass 2,000 miles."

Setting up challenge groups is pretty easy to do and Gary has offered to talk anybody through it – call him on 07824 337771.
