Wrong turns on trail for Fenland runners
Looking for something slightly different to road racing, four Fenland Running Club members – Mel Trayford, Andy Wicklen, Andre Pittock and Paskey Ruggiero – took to the Bury St Edmunds to Clare 18 mile trail run.
Organised by Positive Steps Fitness and Wellbeing in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care, the 18-mile route covered the gently undulating countryside of West Suffolk, passing through the villages of Hawstead, Whepstead, Somerton and others, with several churches along the way. Although the route was marked, several ‘wrong turns’ resulted in more than 18 miles at the end, and all four completed the trail.
n Three Counties Running Club members travelled to deepest Lincolnshire to run the 5K in Boston.
Next weekend TCRC expect a lot more supporting March AC in their 5K.
Boston 5K: Tayo Willett 6th 20.23 (PB), Adam Chown 8th 20.35 (PB), Gary Bligh 10th 20.52 (PB + 1st 45-49), Colin Simpson 14th 22.30 (1st 60-64), Sue George 52nd 28.32 (1st 55-59).
