Walpole St Peter’s Nicky Young looking to entertain

Walpole St Peter’s Nicky Young loves to race in something old or different – and he is looking to impress once again when he races at the biggest Unlimited Banger meeting of the season.

‘Last 1 for #1’ is a testimonial meeting for Dutch Driver #1 Maarten ‘Maai’ Steenbekkers, and takes place at the Adrian Flux Arena in King’s Lynn this Saturday (5pm).

Steenbekkers is not the first top mainland European driver to have his testimonial event at Lynn, with Pieter Leistra having his superbly successful event back in 2013.

The fact that top drivers from the continent wish to have their testimonial event at Lynn shows what high regard the circuit is held in.

Young will be one of the top performers on the night as he looks to campaign a veteran Wolsley 6/110.

This will see Young in the race for cars which originated before 1970 – amazing when one considers that is over 50 years ago.

If he survives that, he will then be in action mixed up with the more modern cars.

Expect Nicky to be in the running for an entertainer award due to the fantastic performances he normally puts in at these meetings.

Joe Geeves will also be in action, although in a more conventional Volvo 240 which he knows how to use to good effect - and he should put on a brilliant display with it.

Racing also comes from the 1300 Stock Cars, where the entry will include a number of local drivers including Tom Alsop, Sonny Wright and father and son duo John and Dean Moat.
