Over the past few weeks you have been nominating for our Fenland Citizen Volunteer of the Year Awards -and now it's time to vote for your favourite.
Readers have until 5pm next Wednesday, September 14 to vote through an in-paper form or online to see who comes first, second and third.
The Volunteer of the Year awards recognise the efforts and achievements of the many wonderful people who give up their own time to help others in Chatteris, March, Wisbech and the surrounding villages.
As well as receiving the Volunteer of the Year trophy, the winning volunteer will receive a £70 Love2shop gift voucher.
Those who come second and third will also receive trophies, plus Love2shop vouchers for £50 and £30 respectively.
The awards are supported by AJW Distribution, of Honeysome Industrial Estate, Chatteris, which delivers independent roofing and cladding supplies to trade and the public.
The person who nominated Ben said: "Ben has only lived in Manea for around three years and volunteered for the First Responder position that was needed.
"Ben is now the main First Responder and he has been first on the scene many times and has saved many lives.
"Also, on a few occasions, he has taken it upon himself and at his own expense to take a patient to Accident and Emergency due to the long delay of an ambulance.
"I would nominate Ben as the unsung hero who doesn't like praise but goes about his volunteer role with professionalism and dedication.
Diane came to Murrow 12 years ago when she and her husband retired," says the lady who nominated her.
"She has thrown herself into village life ,setting up the Murrow Street Pride Group and co-ordinating the Wisbech St Mary and Parson Drove Community Speed Watch.
"She is a volunteer at the Murrow Book Cafe, village hall and Parson Drove coffee morning. When Covid lockdown began she was a very active helping hand volunteer with the help of her husband.
"Diane is also secretary of the Peterborough & District Liberal Party. She is a great organiser and friend and very persuading!"
"This lady never turns down any jobs in Chatteris," says the lady who nominated her. "She cleans the church, she cooks dinners at the Salvation Army and she is on the In Bloom committee, looking after the flowers and watering them.
"She also goes around the street picking up rubbish, and these are just some of the jobs I know of.
"She had a heart attack in December and is already back doing her jobs again. We just can't stop her!"
The person who nominated Anna said: "Anna has volunteered for the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre for 10 years.
"Despite her own health concerns, her commitment and devotion to the charity and our patients has been outstanding and no task has ever been too small or ever turned down.
"From making teas and providing comfort and company for our patients, to supporting fundraising events both on stalls and by making cakes, organising knitters or selling her homemade craft items or previously loved jigsaws.
"To stepping in to support diversional activities in our living well service, to delivering and collecting charity collection boxes.
"All our volunteers are absolutely amazing but I am sure many will recognise Anna from her local social media presence and her efforts in promoting our clinical services and charity efforts."
"Alan is very active with Wisbech In Bloom and the orchestrator of the 'Blooming Bikes', which helped secure Gold and other awards in 2019," said the person who nominated him.
With Street Pride, Alan regularly litter picks, even dealing with fly tipped items near his home.
He is on the WisWIN committee, raising awareness of the proposed incinerator and distributing posters.
Alan was the driving force behind the restoration of the Octagon Graveyard which has seen extensive clearing and planting and he is also a Friend of Wisbech Park.
As well as continuing with the above and more, he is currently gardening at the Annabelle Davis Centre.
"Stan is one of the busiest volunteers I have ever met, belonging to at least seven volunteer groups (around Wisbech)," says his nominator."
The person nominating Joseph said: "He does a lot of voluntary work around Chatteris, cleaning signs, gardening and general tidying." Another nominator added: "Joseph is a unsung hero in my opinion, he is purely motivated by the joy of giving to the community."
