Aaron on target with new shooting centre in Sutton Bridge
Long Sutton Commonwealth Games medallist Aaron Heading aims to take his shooting success into business with the opening of a new range in Sutton Bridge.
The ex-Peele Community College student is the figurehead behind Priory Clay Target Centre at the former RAF Sutton Bridge site in Chalk Lane.
The Priory centre has already named as a national hub club for para-target shooters by the sport’s governing body, British Shooting.
But Aaron and his team, centre manager Natasha Jones and grounds manager Shane Tilbrook, are also hoping to stage some major shooting events next year featuring the country’s leading marksmen and women.
aron said: “Some landowners contacted me about a shoooting club they were wanting to turn into a fully-fledged range to take the sport forward and provide something for the community.
“Everything I have has gone into this venture which I’ve done on my own and the landowners are over the moon with it.”
It’s open to everyone from grassroots shooters to professionals and we’re looking to have some big events in 2016
The centre has three down-the-line (DTL) and three skeet ranges, two automatic ball trap ranges, a grouse butt range and a 140-feet sporting tower.
Aaron said: “The opening weekend went well, with aboout 300 people who came for the whole event.
“It’s open to everyone from grassroots shooters to professionals and we’re looking to have some big events in 2016.”
The centre is hosting a Christmas shoot on Saturday, December 12, with shopping vouchers, chocolates, wines and spirits at stake as prizes.
Entries will be taken on the day at a cost of £15 and for more details, call Natasha on 07468 069373.
