Church works on 175th weekend
Long Sutton Baptist Church is stepping up its preparations to mark 175 years in the town with a family event this weekend.
A session of Messy Church, where families are invited to mix creativity and Christianity, takes place at the Baptist church in West Street, Long Sutton, on Saturday at 10.30am.
The session is suitable for children up to the age of 12, but they must be accompanied by an adult who themselves should bring along at least one child.
Lorna Durrant of Long Sutton Baptist Church said: “We launched Messy Church in May and it was very successful, thanks to everyone who came, helped, and got messy.
“Ahead of our 175th anniversary weekend, a couple of people have come forward with information which has been really useful.
“But we are still wanting people to come forward with any information that they may have about the church and its history.”
The Rev Nic Hasnip, who has led the church for nearly 18 years, said: “It’s a massive thing for us as a church and, whilst we thought of leaving it until the church is 200 years old, we decided instead to grab the opportunity now.”
