FILM REVIEW Streetdance Family, Debbie Shuter and Adam Tysoe, Insight Films, And Films and Lipsync Productions
The electrifying world of street dancing has been with us almost as long as the UK’s younger generation have been exposed to disco, soul and hip-hop.
The electrifying world of street dancing has been with us almost as long as the UK’s younger generation have been exposed to disco, soul and hip-hop.
Fast forward 30 years and names like Diversity, Flawless and George Sampson have become ingrained on the UK’s street dance scene, as have Entity Allstars who reached the grand final of Britain’s Got Talent last year.
But Streetdance Family - The Movie takes a step back as an access-all-areas camera crew follows Entity (as they were known then) all the way to the 2014 IDO (International Dance Organisation) World Hip-Hop Championships in Germany.
The term “access-all-areas” is not an exaggeration as dance instructor Tashan Muir, parents and the young dancers, all aged between ten and 16, do everything but put on a show for the cameras.
Debbie Shuter and Adam Tysoe’s docu-drama is notable for the movie debut of Tydd St Mary dancer Dolcie Simmons and tickets are available for Streetdance Family only in selected cinemas which you must book in advance to secure your screening.
