Maize maze at Skylark Garden Centre in Wimblington announces 2025 design

The famous Wimblington maize maze at Skylark Garden Centre has announced its theme for this year’s design… which is a celebration of the much-loved ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ books by children’s author Cressida Cowell.

Families will be able to follow over three kilometres of pathways in the dragon-themed maze to complete a challenge. The attraction opens on July 24 and will be open every day until August 31, 10am to 5pm.

The fun yard includes two new attractions - RamBird’s River Race and Nacho Feather’s Football Fiesta, plus their Pesky Pigeon Tractor Ride, pedal go-kart track, jumping pillow, Water Wars, giant slide complex, pig racing, zipwire and pool.

The Maize Maze and all the fun yard activities can be enjoyed for one entry price.

Event manager Bart Woodbine said: “Our children have grown up with these entertaining and spellbinding stories, and when we saw there was to be a new live-action reboot of the original book this summer, we knew it had to be a dragon.”

It took the events team a week of toiling in the fields to design and cut out the pathways in the maize field using a rotavator.

The paths are carefully cut out using GPS technology to plot the image to create a maze for visitors to explore throughout the summer. There are over a million maize plants, plus the sunflowers, which will form the sunflower spectacular in August.
