Wisbech and Fenland Museum launch new exhibition of miniature art to raise money for its running costs

Hundreds of mini-artworks by amateur and professional artists have been donated to a museum to create a unique exhibition.

Wisbech and Fenland Museum made a request for unsigned original artwork, the size of a postcard, to be given as part of a new project.

The response saw 300 miniature prints, photographs, paintings and drawings submitted for sale.

Open to the public for free from November 22 until 25, the idea is to raise money for the museum's running costs through the sale of an unsigned piece at £10 each – the twist is that the buyers will not know who created the work until they have purchased it.

After November 25, standard museum admission prices will apply to view the exhibition, with the last day to view it being December 16.

Organiser Louise Haselgrove said: “We have been so grateful for the generosity and goodwill shown to the Museum through this activity.

"With over 300 donated artworks for sale, the exhibition looks set to make a significant contribution to our ongoing fundraising campaign to keep the museum open.”
