Rings End Nature Reserve near March holding Heritage Open Day

A local nature reserve is holding a Heritage Open Day event to help people explore the “post-industrial” nature of the site.

The reserve at Rings End, north of March, was a train track until the 1980s, and will now host a fun treasure hunt activity and a display board with train-themed props and refreshments.

This free event will be run by the volunteers on Sunday, September 14 and is a child-friendly way to learn all about the reserve’s history as a railway from 1867 until November 27, 1982, when the last train ever ran through and reached March Station at 7.01pm.

Visitors can explore this interesting heritage and find all the signs across the reserve to fill in a questionnaire about the railway history, look at the old photographs and other railway artefacts while having train-themed cakes with the friendly team.
