Upwell Spring art exhibition postponed




UPDATE: The event has been postponed because of coronavirus and will now be held at a later date.

PREVIOUSLY: Upwell is ‘Spring-ing’ into life next month with a big event to raise money towards the cost of repairs to Upwell Methodist Church.

The 51 St Peter’s Road church (PE14 9EL for sat navs) is the venue for ‘Spring into Spring’ – featuring an art exhibition and crafts fair, lunches and an evening variety show – on Saturday, April 4.

The exhibition and fair will run from 10am-3pm. The exhibition will feature work by local artists displayed on the church’s walls.

Organised by Sylvie Short, the participating artists in the exhibition will include Peter Barnard, Annette Berg, Gareth Brown, Marie Jenkins, Brenda Jaggard, Paulette Nuss, Chris Horwood, Peter Partington, Carolyn Loveday, Deborah Watts, George Church and John Witty.

Entry is free and many of the exhibits on display will be for sale.

The craft fair will cover jewellery, cakes, knitted toys, hand-made gifts, handbags, truffles and greetings cards – with a wide selection of goods to buy.

From 11.30am-1pm light lunches will be available in the hall at the back of the church.

The variety show – with a buffet – will run from 6.30pm-9.15pm and will include The Sugar Beats, Just us Too, The Jammers, Kill Me Kate, Charlie Chapin – and more!

Entry to the day is free, but the organisers are suggesting a donation of £8 for the evening event, which will include the buffet.

  • The art exhibition will continue at the Methodist Church on Sunday afternoons throughout April from 2pm-5pm. All are welcome to drop in.
