Purina’s Pet Pride Awards crown doting dog ‘Ultimate Pet Best Friend’

Ambrose, an 11-year-old Collie-Labrador cross, has been crowned Wisbech’s Ultimate Pet Best Friend as part of the recent Purina Pet Pride Awards.

The judges selected Ambrose as the winner of the category after hearing about how his kind and loving temperament has helped owner Holly and her family through several difficult situations, including her daughter’s ongoing health conditions and the passing of her mother.

Ambrose, who was adopted from Dogs Trust at the age of five, showers his family with non-stop kisses and provides them with comfort when needed, even learning to give hugs when asked by snuggling up to his owners when they raise their arm.

Pet care company, Purina, launched the Pet Pride Awards to celebrate the amazing cats and dogs in Wisbech and the surrounding area as part of a recent £150 million investment into its Wisbech factory, which has been part of the community since 1998 and which employs more than 500 local people.

Commenting on Ambrose’s award win, owner Holly, said: “My family has been through a lot over recent years and having Ambrose by our side every step of the way has made such a difference, showing just how much of an impact pets can have on their families.

“Ambrose makes our world a much brighter place and I’m delighted that he has taken home this award – he really is such a good boy and everyone who meets him falls in love, proving that he is the Ultimate Best Friend.”

As a reward for being named the Ultimate Pet Best Friend, Ambrose has been given Winalot dog food to enjoy – one of the popular pet food brands Purina makes at its Wisbech factory.

The investment into the Purina Wisbech factory includes a series of developments designed to modernise the technology and machinery on its production lines, enhance the facilities for colleagues, improve energy efficiency and help reduce carbon emissions over the coming years.
