Call to arms by WisWin for one last protest in fight against planned Wisbech incinerator




Campaigners fighting plans for a mega incinerator in Wisbech are appealing for the public’s held for one final push in their fight.

Ginny Bucknor, a leading member of campaign group Wisbech Without Incineration (WisWIN) has issued an urgent SOS to anyone who opposes German-based MVV Environment’s proposal to build a 54 megawatt incinerator on land off Algores Way.

She is looking for people to join WisWIN members on May 11 for a silent protest when lead planning inspector Andre Pinto visits the proposed site and the general area one last time.

Ginny wants to have as many people as possible to stand on the corner of Weasenham Lane and Algores Way at 10am on Thursday May 11.

She said: “This is our LAST opportunity to show Wisbech and the villages’ opposition to the Planning Inspector who will be visiting the proposed site and the general area on Thursday 11th May.

“Will you join us on the corner of Weasenham Lane and Algores Way? Some of you were able to come to the Silent Protest outside the Boathouse.

“Now we need as many of you as possible to show one last time Wisbech opposition to this proposed monstrosity. This is their route: Thomas Clarkson Academy (expected start time: 10:30am) Algores Way Waste Transfer Station (expected start time 11am, 9 and 10 New Bridge Lane (expected start time noon) Walsoken Substation (expected start time: 1.45pm).”
