Chatteris Midsummer Festival draws record crowds for live entertainment and colourful carnival parade
An annual festival with the theme of the Roaring Twenties took place at the weekend.
The Chatteris Midsummer Festival returned with live music, stalls and a carnival parade.
Organisers had to cancel the fun dog show as temperatures soared, but replaced it with youngsters competing instead.
Chatteris Town Council clerk Jo Melton said: “It went really well, particularly on the Saturday when we had record crowds.
“Those who entered the carnival really enjoyed it.
“Due to the heat we had to cancel the dog show so the children pretended to be dogs!”
During the two-day festival visitors could get involved with the colour fun run and tug of war.
There was live music from a Robbie WIlliams tribute band, jazz band, Scooted N Booted, DJ Laura Dennis, David Sir Reggae and headline act Gorilla Circus.
Mrs Melton said: “Everybody joined in with the main Charleston dance to go with the roaring twenties theme.
“The festival brings the community together.
“It keeps everybody entertained without having to pay a fortune or go out of town.
”A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out and to the staff at Fenland District Council.”
