Wisbech Town Council clerk reports on fitting of defibrillator and date for Christmas fair
Councillors were told about updates regarding the town at their meeting on Monday.
During Wisbech Town Council’s meeting, the clerk, Terry Jordan, updated councillors on what has been going on in the area, including a date set for a Christmas event and a defibrillator being fitted.
Members of the council heard that the marketplace is still waiting for the gates to be fitted. However, the scaffolding is down at the former casino building that had a fire a few years ago.
He mentioned the VE Day event that was held in the town on May 8 and said: “It went very well.”
The planning of this year's Rose Fair is “well under way,” as well as the Christmas Fair. He said meetings have been held for the latter and a date has been set – December 14.
Wisbech Castle has become more and more popular, with only five weekends available for the paranormal activities.
Mr Jordan said: “It is now starting to pick up in terms of the wedding bookings, also it is predicted again this year that the castle's income will exceed its expenditure.
The café in the park reopened on March 2. He said: “I think it is fair to say that a good working relationship has already been established between the operator of the café and the council officers, and we are hearing very good reports from the public.”
Also in the park, a defibrillator has been fitted on the external wall of the pavilion.
