Ewa proves she's 'top of the cobs' as she wins sweetcorn eating competition at Skylark Garden Centre near Wimblington

Fast chewers put their gnashers to the test in the annual Skylark Garden Centre sweetcorn eating championships.

The event held on Bank Holiday Monday saw 40 people of all ages line-up to chomp their way through as many cobs as they could in three minutes.

There were two heats for both the adults and the children's competitions with 10 in each and the final then saw the fastest six compete for the glory and a trophy.

Winners were 14-year-old Dylan Potter, who managed to consume four cobs in the allotted time.

He was presented with a super soaker pistol and a cup.

The adult winner was Ewa Urbanska from Hartford, she managed an 'amaizing' seven cobs to win the £100 prize and the trophy.

The MC for the day was BBC's radio Cambridgeshire's Johnny Dee.

Skylark's events' manager Bart Woodbine said: "We had a really busy day and it was a great success."
