Fenland-based business gets a boost from a friendly dragon
A small business based in a Fenland village has received a boost from retail entrepreneur Theo Paphitis, former star of the BBC show Dragons Den.
Last October, Michelle Gower, from Elm and Tinika Sooley from Emneth, owners of Uniform Properties Ltd, tweeted Theo about their business during ‘Small Business Sunday’ and were one of six weekly winners to gain a re-tweet by him.
The weekly initiative, set up by Theo in 2010, now has over 3,000 #SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK like Uniform Properties which offers a free one-to-one property purchasing support service to all members of the Forces, Veterans and NHS employees.
Business and retail entrepreneur and self-confessed shopkeeper, Theo re‐tweeted the Uniform Properties message to his near half a million followers.
As a result they have gained more social media followers and new contacts which have been key to their business.
Michelle and Tinika said, “We were completely overwhelmed that our business had been recognised by Theo.
“Last week we got to meet him and fellow dragon Touker Suleyman at the annual SBS event. He presented us with our certificate and hosted a fantastic event with inspirational presentations and motivational talks.”
Theo Paphitis said “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK.
“My vision is that everyone who has ever won an #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club - like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings.
He added: “The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Uniform Properties Ltd every success.”
