Fire at Wisbech brewery kills birds and wildlife




Arsonists have been blamed for a fire which destroyed a maze in the gardens of a local tourist attraction.

The incident at the gardens of Elgoods Brewery on North Brink in Wisbech not only destroyed over 125 trees but also killed a number of nesting birds and wildlife.

The fire service and police were called to the incident, which happened at around 10.30am on Thursday June 2.

Belinda Sutton, speaking on behalf of Elgoods, has appealed for help in identifying those responsible for the destruction.

She also issued a huge thank-you to Wisbech Fire Service for their help in tackling the blaze.

She said: "We would be very grateful if people could contact the brewery on 01945 583160 with any information relating to this incident."
