Gallery: 'The Elf who Saved Christmas' proves huge hit with Fenland audiences
The Secret Garden and Nine Lives Theatre Company have joined forces this year to provide a fun filled Christmas pantomime for the people of Fenland and there are still a few ticket left for tonight's opening show.
The Elf That Saved Christmas will be live at The Secret Garden, Mile Tree Lane, Wisbech from today (Monday) until Christmas Eve after the cast enjoyed their dress rehearsal last night.
Many of the cast members are wearing face shields while those who are in family 'bubbles' are not.
Michelle Larkin, director of the Nine Lives Theatre Company, said: "We are practically sold out, we have sold 450 tickets and we have had two people who are in tier four who have had to cancel. There are few tickets left for the opening performance and people have until 5.30pm to book them at £10 each either by calling 07718 888641 or by visiting www.ticketsource.co.uk/ninelivestheatrecompany.
She added: “We were busy planning our tour of the Elf when COVID 19 struck back in March and had a full list of venues booked when we had to cancel due to the pandemic, but having spoken to Neil and Lesley Pollington at The Secret Garden we believe we have the perfect venue to put the show on whilst observing all the rules.
“The space the venue allows has enabled us to construct a 20 metre long Christmas set which turns the whole venue into a spectacular setting which really does bring out the magic of Christmas. We have literally thrown the kitchen sink at it this year.”
Neil, director of the Secret Garden, said: “With the lack of events and shows to attend this Christmas we felt the people of Wisbech deserved something to bring the cheer of Christmas this year. We have the perfect venue in our covered, outdoor fully heated venue to host what will surely be a real treat for families this Christmas.
“In teaming up with Nine Lives Theatre Company we have managed to produce a professional Christmas Panto whilst complying with all the COVID 19 restrictions. We are able to seat around 100 people safely in our venue which has been transformed into a magical winter wonderland.”
Expect lots of Christmas songs, bundles of laughter and dance to complete a Christmas package for the whole family.
Sound and lighting is being produced by Stephen Palmer of Purple Box Audio a professional sound and lighting production company from Wisbech.
