GCSE RESULTS 2024: From nursing to the military, varied ambitions for the future at Neale-Wade Academy in March as students celebrate results





Ambitious students at the Neale-Wade Academy in March have their sights set on a diverse set of future careers from nursing to helicopter pilot.

The Year 11 pupils shared their hopes for the future as they collected their GCSE results at the school in Wimblington Road this morning.

Among those delighted to have achieved the grades needed to take him on to a uniformed services course was Henry Gatland-Shaw who appears to have his career path mapped out.

Henry, who is looking to attend a uniformed services course either at Peterborough or King’s Lynn is aiming to eventually join the Army Air Corps to train as a helicopter pilot.

His ultimate dream would be to join an air ambulance service as a pilot. He said: “They tend to recruit directly from the services, but that would be my dream.

Filip Drozdz is aiming to go into medicine with the ambition of one day being a doctor.

The army was a popular choice for a number of students including Curtis Markham, and Alfie Wilby, while a footballing career beckons for Sam Keenoy who is off to join a football scholarship.

A good number of the students happy with their GCSE results are planning to stay on at the March school to complete A-levels including Piotr Ziabka and Millie Cover.

Nursing is the aim of Aimee Patyn while Molly Mayes is hoping to complete an apprenticeship.

The March-based school said it is thrilled that students can pursue their preferred post-16 pathways including welcoming them into join Neale-Wade Sixth Form in September, while others embark on college courses or apprenticeships.

Rick Hanson, senior leader at Neale-Wade Academy, remarked: “It’s wonderful to see the hard work of our students come to fruition with such excellent results. Many are now moving on to their first-choice post-16 options, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

“I’d like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff and families who have been instrumental in supporting our students throughout this journey. Congratulations to the class of 2024.”

Graham Horn, principal, added: “The achievements of this year’s cohort are truly impressive. They have faced various challenges with determination and resilience, and it’s rewarding to see their efforts translate into success. We are excited to see them embark on their next steps, whether in further education or the workforce and wish them continued success.”

We are all delighted to celebrate their achievements and look forward to seeing them excel in their future endeavours. Well done to everyone.”

Students across Fenland are collecting their GCSE results today including at the Cromwell Community College in Chatteris, Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech, University Academy Long Sutton, Wisbech Grammar School, and at Marshland High School.

Nationally the number of pupils passing has dropped for the third year running dropping to just above the pre-pandemic levels.
