Nearly 30 disclosure enquiries through Sarah's Law in Cambridgeshire over summer months

Nearly 30 people have used a law to check out adults with access to children in two months this summer.

Sarah's Law was set up following a campaign by Sara Payne, whose eight-year-old daughter Sarah, was abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered by paedophile Roy Whiting in 2000.

The little girl was taken less than five miles from the known sex offender's home.

Sarah Payne had a law named after her which allows families to check whose living in their area and might pose a threat to children. (56190013)

The law allows anyone (not just parents) to find out if an adult, who has access to a child, poses a risk to them.

During July and August Cambridgeshire police had 29 people apply for information through the disclosure scheme.
