Newly-founded The Clearing Crew provides hoard clearance services in Fenland
A new service is transforming how hoarding and extreme clutter are addressed in West Fenland.
The Clearing Crew offers trauma-informed, non-judgmental support to people who feel overwhelmed by their living space – delivered with dignity, empathy, and practical care.
Hoarding is more common than many realise, affecting an estimated 2% to 6% of the UK population, according to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
That could mean thousands of people in Cambridgeshire are quietly struggling without appropriate support. The Clearing Crew steps in “with a focus on safety, compassion, and sustainable change”.
Founded by Sara Kedge and Colleen Humphrey, The Clearing Crew offers a full range of services including hoard clearance, deep cleaning, personalised home organisation, and aftercare planning. Every service is delivered with confidentiality and respect.
Sara said: “We understand that hoarding is about more than stuff – it’s often a response to trauma, loss, or overwhelm.
“We work alongside our clients, at their pace, to support change that lasts.”
Colleen added: “People need to feel seen, supported, and in control. We are here to build help and habits that stick long after our van has left.”
The Clearing Crew partners with individuals, families, social prescribers, housing associations, GPs, charities, and care teams to deliver “safe, respectful and effective results”.
Whether it is helping someone stay in their home, preparing a property for sale, or offering post-crisis support, the goal is always the same - to help people move from chaos to calm.
