March reader concerned at vehicles parked against flow of traffic

Journeying from March through Coldham, Friday Bridge and Elm on a dark and wet night recently I was concerned at the number of vehicles parked ‘face-on’ to oncoming traffic.

It meant that, in the driving conditions, I could not see the vehicle in the road ahead of me until I was almost on top of it.

If they’d parked the other way round, my headlights would have caught their reflectors in good time and I would not have had a problem.

Vehicles parked against oncoming traffic.
Vehicles parked against oncoming traffic.

I’ve a feeling it’s against Highway Code instruction to park vehicles facing oncoming traffic?

It’s certainly a dangerous practice.

Paul Brown,

March.
