An entertainment venue in town has officially had its name changed after being taken over.

Legends Pool and Sports Bar in Wisbech, formerly known as Kennedy’s, changed ownership on Friday, March 29 - and this week has officially started trading with its new business name.

Darren McCarthy, who has been at the venue since May as a sub-lease, has officially taken over the business and has changed the name to give it a fresh start in town.

He said: “It brings to town a good family place for all ages to come.

“More and more youngsters have been going on a weekly basis - it’s good to see.”

The venue has 12 pool tables, four dart boards, two snooker tables and will play host to a weekly Friday pool competition at 7pm.

Lauren Clarke and Mia Mason, who were enjoying a game of pool with their sons when the Citizen paid a visit to the venue, said they would be lost without the bar.

Lauren said: “The venue is definitely something that is needed and is the only place in the area.

“It is very appreciated.”

Mia said: “It is really relaxed in here and it is somewhere to go to that is very welcoming.

“It is very professional in here and we would be lost without it.”

Legends Pool and Sports Bar, located on Chapel Road in Wisbech, is open seven days a week, from Monday-Thursday 5pm–late, and Friday-Sunday 2pm-late.

Pool and snooker costs £6 per hour, with four hours for £20, and the darts is free on a first-come-first-served basis.

Darren is an ex-England pool player of 20 years, and will be hosting a coaching school in the summer holidays for children aged 8-18 years and over 18s.

He is also planning legends events and entertainment below the sports bar, which is available to hire out for weddings and parties.

A beer garden will be ready by the end of April, and the venue will be getting four TVs and a projector just in time for the football European Championships this summer.
