Police confirm that body found in Wisbech river is woman from Lincolnshire
Police have confirmed that the body of a woman was found in the River Nene last Monday.
Emergency services were called to Nene Parade in Wisbech at 11.45am after reports that a body was seen in the water.
Cambridgeshire Police have confirmed that the body was a woman from Lincolnshire and would not be providing any further information.
The police helicopter was launched above Wisbech last Sunday after an attack.
It was helping officers track down two suspects on e-bikes after a man was assaulted on Tavistock Road.
After a joint effort between the response and neighbourhood teams, detectives and the helicopter team, three arrests were made.
A club which has been open again for less than a week has been targeted again, just 18 months after an arson attack forced it to close.
The Wisbech and District Ex-Services Club on Alexandra Road in town was hit by another arson attack last Monday morning, just five days after it reopened.
Kathleen Dale, manager at the club, said she arrived at work at 8.20am, to find the front window smashed and evidence of someone trying to set the place on fire again.
Three Counties Running Club’s Viaceslav Goncarenko took part in the Zig Zag running event at Ferry Meadows.
The event was called The Summer Ready Run, which was quite ironic as the weather wasn’t pleasant and it rained for most of the day.
The route was a 5k loop with runners having six hours to complete as many loops as they wanted.
Nine people arrested in Wisbech for driving offences and fraudulent documents during action day
Nine people were arrested during a police action day targeting fraudulent document holders.
The action day took place on Thursday, July 10, in Wisbech as part of the force’s Operation Foxtail - which also included 17 vehicles being seized and 16 tickets being issued.
The operation, led by PC Josh Preston, targeted fraudulent driving licences and documents being used on the road network as a method to disrupt organised and serious crime.
Timpson on Wisbech Market Place to close its doors this weekend due to its business performance
Another shop in the centre of town announced it would be closing, with only days until it would shut its doors.
Timpson, which is located on the Market Place in Wisbech, ended its services on Saturday after many years serving the community.
The retailer, which offers repairs and key-cutting services, made the decision to close the town's branch due to its business performance.
A majority of councillors at Cambridgeshire County Council agreed to back a motion sharing support for the rights of transgender men, women, and non-binary individuals.
The motion was put forward by Cllr Alison Whelan (Liberal Democrat), who said trans people receive a “disproportionate amount of repression and hate”.
Some councillors said they could not support the motion and accused it of “virtue signalling”.
