The East of England Ambulance Service said the man initially attended the North Cambridgeshire Hospital, but was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn when his condition deteriorated.

A spokesman said the man had suffered serious leg and abdominal injuries, though they were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police were also called to the area at around 1.20pm to assist with what a spokesman termed as “crowd control” to enable the helicopter to land.
