Bad defeat for Wisbech Town, away draw for March Town and Parson Drove defeated by league leaders
Wisbech Town fell to one of their most disappointing defeats of the season this afternoon.
The Fenmen were thumped 5-2 at third from bottom Eastwood Colliery and had goalkeeper Luke Pearson sent off for the second time this season.
After going a goal down after 44 minutes, Wisbech hit back seconds later through Charley Saunders, who is dual registered and currently suspended from his parent club Beford Town.
Eastwood retook the lead after 52 minutes, scored again after 69 and were 4-1 up after 75 minutes. Pearson was red carded after a foul in the 79th minute, but Saunders then scored again six minutes later, only for the home side to score again immediately.
Wisbech are now fifth from bottom of the United Counties League Premier Division North, and eight points from the relegation zone.
There was a better result for March Town, who are sixth in the United Counties League Premier Division South, with games in hand, after a 1-1 draw at Easington Sports, Jack Friend netting a first half equaliser for the Hares.
In the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North, Parson Drove were beaten 4-2 at home to leaders Heacham and are now just a point off bottom spot.
Heacham led 2-0 and 4-1, assistant manager Dean Miller and Harrison Taylor from the penalty spot scoring for Drove.
