Wisbech Banger driver Michael “Bandit” Bailey, who was taken from us far too early, is remembered this Saturday (6pm) at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena when the annual Bandit Memorial is staged for Unlimited and 2L Bangers with racing also coming from the 1300 Stock Cars and the Micro Stox.

Bandit – who was a big star in both the Predators and Team Black – was very popular amongst local drivers and fans and the meeting dedicated to him is always very popular.

This year looks like being no different with over 60 Unlimited Bangers booked in to race a week before the event.

Captain Ricky Twell (Lynn) leads a strong Predators entry. Other local drivers in action include Rob Taylor (Wisbech) who always performs well in the bigger cars.

Ryan Leeks (Wisbech) has been one of the success stories from Wisbech in recent years and the rapid youngster from the fens has shown himself to be adaptable to different forms of bangers and will be a threat this coming Saturday.

Completing the local entry are the Young brothers Nicky (pictured) and Nathan (both Elm) who always impress whenever they appear and can be guaranteed to get stuck into the action.

The 1300 Stock Cars will see Simon Sparrow (Wisbech) racing with a red roof for the very first time with Natasha Street (Chatteris) also racing at her home track with a red roof for the first time, although this will not be the first time she has appeared in the star grade after giving a very good account of herself in the English Championship down at Aldershot a couple of weeks ago.

There are a lot of local drivers in action in the 1300 Stock Cars at the moment and representatives of the town make up over 30 per cent of the entry. In addition to Simon and Natasha there will also be Simon’s brother Scott Sparrow in action together with Lee Green, Buster Ketteringham, Kevin McClagish, Ady Moden, John Moat, Ady Wales, Karl Morris and Steve Littlejohn.

The 2L Bangers and Micro Stox are also in action.
