Parson Drove manager Arran Duke adds Rory Harper, Timmy Wainwright and Danny Setchell to ranks

Parson Drove boss Arran Duke hopes a series of new additions can add some much needed experience to his squad.

It could prove vital in the coming weeks and months as Drove look to move off bottom spot in the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North.

With the Fenland side now three points behind Needham Market U23s, albeit with four games in hand, this weekend’s trip to 16th-placed Haverhill Borough has added importance.

And their ranks have been boosted by the arrival of attacker Rory Harper and midfielders Timmy Wainwright and Danny Setchell.

Duke said: “The signings we’ve made last week have been brought in to try and add a bit more experience to the group.

“In the position we are in it’s clear we lack that within the group.

“The three lads will take a few games to get up to speed with match fitness and sharpness - it’s not automatically going to change things, but I certainly feel their quality will help us turn things around.”

Drove were beaten 3-0 in the league by AC Sudbury Reserves last Saturday, and are now winless in seven First Division North fixtures.

On that defeat, Duke added: “We made a solid start but Sudbury are well organised and fit lads, and we just couldn’t produce the same level of performance in the second half.

“There were good things to build on. We have 18 games left - that’s half a season. We know those games will chalk off quickly and we need to start getting some points on the board, but I feel we’ve made some positive steps with the additions made.”

With three players heading into the camp, Drove have also waved goodbye to another three.

Harrison Taylor has moved on to Matlock Town, with Scott Waumsley heading to Yaxley - while Connor Pilbeam has made his way to Whittlesey Athletic.
