Bowers blast powers Wisbech to victory
Wisbech Town enjoyed a 104-run victory at home to Barnack in Division One of the Rutland League on Sunday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Wisbech scored an impressive 273-7 from their 40 overs, Josh Bowers hitting 80, James Williams 69, Dom Stannard 46 and Gary Freear 17.
In reply, Barnack were all out for 169 in 39 overs, Freear taking 3-21, Joe Dunning 3-38 and a wicket each for Brodie Ellis, George Gowler and Josh Porter.
In the South Lincs & Border League, In Inter One, Long Sutton went down to a 98 run defeat at Newborough, who scored 217-8 from 40 overs after deciding to bat.
Adam Whittaker was the pick of the Sutton bowlers with 3-42, Dan Oldfield took 2-47 and there were wickets for Joe Whittaker, Jake Burton and Rob Simpson.
A solid 35 from opener Chris Booth was not enough for Sutton as they were bowled out for 119 off 33.1 overs. Adam Wright made 28.
There was also defeat for Long Sutton 2nd, in Inter Two, losing by three wickets at Castor & Ailsworth 2nd.
Sutton made 118-5 from their 40 overs and then saw the home side reach 119-7 with two overs to spare.Next Sunday Wisbech have the local deby at March, in Division Three, Long Sutton entertain Spalding and in Four East, Wisbech 2nd are at Peterborough 2nd.
