Holbeach United score seven goals in their victory over FC Parson Drove in the Thurlow Nunn League Division One North
Parson Drove fell to their heaviest defeat of the season after a 7-1 away reversal at Holbeach United on Boxing Day.
Four goals from Cal Davies and a Kyle Compton hat-trick helped Holbeach to their biggest win of the campaign against a Drove side who had got back on level terms in the first period with Harrison Taylor's penalty cancelling out an earlier Holbeach spot kick.
However, the Tigers scored two quick-fire goals just before half-time before netting a further four times in the second period.
It was the first league outing for both sides for more than three weeks and the lack of match action was probably evident in the opening exchanges with a scrappy start to the contest.
Ex-Holbeach player Josh Hales had a shot deflected wide for the visitors while Davies saw an effort saved by Drove goalkeeper Nick Ivanov.
The best chance of the opening 20 minutes then fell to Drove as Brody Warren found Kyial West but the striker steered his shot over the home crossbar.
Compton had a goalbound header blocked by Dean Miller before the Tigers took the initiative with Davies' first goal of the afternoon.
Holbeach's top scorer burst into the penalty area where he was brought down and then picked himself up to convert the resultant spot kick just before the half-hour mark.
However, the lead lasted just eight minutes before Drove got back on level terms with a penalty of their own which was converted by Harrison Taylor after West had been fouled by Harvey Henderson.
Parity lasted just four minutes though before Holbeach regained the lead as Will Barnes found Davies with an astute pass and the Tigers talisman did the rest with an excellent low finish into the far corner of the Drove net.
Davies then inadvertently denied Holbeach a third goal as they finished the half strongly when he got in the way of Compton's goalbound shot.
However, a minute before the break the third goal did arrive as a cracking cross from Davies picked out Compton who headed home into the bottom corner of the Drove net.
It gave the Tigers a comfortable cushion at the interval in front of a decent crowd of 172 at Carter's Park.
Davies had another chance early in the second half but his low shot was saved by Ivanov before the fourth goal arrived in the 49th minute.
Adrian Bilicz found Davies with a cross and he tapped home to complete his hat-trick despite some desperate last-ditch defence from the visitors.
Holbeach were now well on top and they added a fifth goal just before the hour mark when John Yambasu's through ball released Davies and he finished with aplomb for his fourth of the afternoon.
Home goalkeeper Max Rigby then did well with his only serious test of the second half as he got down smartly to deny Tom Kendrick.
Holbeach had the greater attacking threat though and they made it six after 64 minutes when a poor clearance from Ivanov was collected by Compton who returned the ball with interest as his classy finish went over the stranded goalkeeper and into the net.
The Tigers continued to create chances with Ivanov saving well from debutant Bognan Masnita - who came on as a second half substitute - and Davies, for once, blazing a good chance over.
The scoring was rounded off deep into injury-time with Compton completing his hat-trick as he drove home Masnita's low cross.
