Fenland drivers to take to King’s Lynn arena for stock car and banger racing this weekend
Stock car and banger racing returns to King’s Lynn for an unusual in-season Sunday date on April 21, starting at 1pm, with racing coming from the 2L stock cars, 1300 stock cars, 1600cc bangers and junior bangers.
Plenty of cars are booked in for each formula for what is looking like a great afternoon of action - including some Fenland drivers.
Tommy Parrin is back in action in the 2L stock cars and will be keen to get a win under his belt after being unlucky last time at Lynn when he was spun out when well placed.
Following some decent results at Northampton and Skegness last weekend, Tommy is expected to come to Lynn full of confidence.
Another good field of local drivers will be in action in the 1300 stock cars. It will be left to Dean to be the sole member of the Moat family in action with dad John (who won the final last time out) and brother Shane away on holiday.
Sonny Wright will be looking to continue his recent form which has taken him up to the blue grade from May 1.
Other local drivers looking to be in action in the 1300 stock cars include John Klyn, Karl Morris, Barty Ketteringham and Ronnie Palmer with Ronnie making his debut.
Fans should also have plenty to cheer in the 1600cc bangers with some top names in action.
Lenny Murkin will be making his first appearance of the season at Lynn and following a good meeting at Ipswich last weekend which saw him take the chequered flag, he will be full of confidence.
James Licquorice makes a rare appearance in this class having his car left over from Mildenhall’s Good Friday teams meeting and he will see this weekend as being a great chance of extending his lead in the Entertainer League.
Brad Bartram is always short odds to take the chequered flag or win an entertainer award whilst Joel Allen also always performs well in this class.
2024 rookie Joshua Gilbert will be making his second appearance in the 1600cc bangers and he will be looking forward to another great day after having a great debut last month which saw him win an entertainer award in the Destruction Derby.
A big field of junior bangers will complete the day with plenty of local drivers in action. National Points Champion Rhys Parrin heads a big local entry.
The new grades come into effect for the first time in 2024 and several local drivers have been moving up and will be sporting new roof colours for the first time.
Jade Ellis makes red for the first time whilst last time’s final winner Taylor Morton will be racing from the blues for the first ever time and Riley Crowson also moves back to the blues.
Other local drivers in action in the junior bangers include Lincoln Douglas, Archie Horwood, Keyan Murfitt and Nicholas Bedford.
