Mettam replaces Allan Ross, who sensationally quit last week, just three weeks before the United Counties League season starts.

Fenmen chairman Paul Brenchley told the Citizen: "This is the best thing that's happened to the club for a long time.

"He has good contacts and will be able to bring decent players in."

Brenchley said Mettam comes recommended by former Wisbech manager Gary Setchell. "Gary is convinced that Leo will give us the stability we need going forward."

In a long career, Mettam has also played for Lincoln City, Stamford, Corby Town, Gainsborough Trinity, Worksop Town, Tamworth and Skegness Town
