Leverington Ladies' U17 side thrashed Camborne Town at the weekend
Leverington's U17 ladies side stormed to a 5-0 win against Camborne Town.
It was the girls' second consecutive win at the start of their 2021/22 Cambridgeshire Womens & Girls County Football League season.
They started brightly, and were rewarded with a goal in the first minute from Lauren Davis, who slotted a cool finish past the opposition goalkeeper.
Leverington continued to pile on the pressure, and the second goal didn't take too long. After some good play from Millie McClagish, she played a delightful pass into the path of Lauren Davis to fire in her second of the match.
Camborne continues to press the girls and created a few opportunities, forcing some good reaction and saves from Deanna Boon in goal.
However, a good passage of play down the left wing from Courtney Venni and Harmony Hanson resulted in the latter opening her account for the girls and giving her side a 3-0 lead going into the break.
Leverington started the second half in sloppy fashion, and Camborne tried to take advantage by piling more and more pressure on their defence and goalkeeper.
Once again, however, the girls weathered the storm and hit their opponents on the break. Deanna released a quick ball over the top of the Camborne defence for McClagish and Davis, who linked up well with some lovely passing.
McClagish fired in number four and took the game out of the reach of Camborne.
With a minute left on the clock, captain Charlotte Wheatley got in on the act when she scored the fifth and final goal of the game. After five years without a goal, she now has two in two games.
Sophia Wheatley and Morgan Smith were awarded the player of the match awards.
Leverington took time to thank their sponsors Cobra Engineering and Brown and Co.
