Aged 55-plus? March Golf Club holding seniors open on September 30
Are you aged 55-plus? Retired or semi-retired?
Bored with daytime TV? Feel you need more exercise but can’t face going to the gym? Enjoy the company of like-minded re-cycled teenagers? Played golf many years ago but work and family commitments got in the way, or never held a golf club in your life?
If the answer to all (or at least some) of these questions is yes, then we might just have the answer for you at March Golf Club (MGC).
The men’s senior section at March Golf Club meets three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Mondays and Fridays are ‘roll-ups’ – all welcome, you just turn up at 7.45, draw partners and play.
Various types of informal competitions are played on these days. Wednesday is competition day where more ‘serious’ competitions are played and also play most friendly matches in the summer against other local clubs.
Friendly matches are for golfers of all standards so new members are very welcome.
If your golf is a little rusty, or you have never played before, we have a PGA resident professional on site with whom you can book a course of lessons and buy all your equipment, and an excellent practice facility available to you to use in order to improve your game.
MGC currently have a full driving range, practice putting green, practice chipping green, practice bunker and a three-hole pitch and putt course. The club is also intending to raise sufficient money to fund a covered driving range in the near future. In short, everything you would need to learn the game and become a better golfer.
Having launched a Junior and Ladies Academy in 2018, MGC are intending to widen our offering to encourage older golfers to take-up the game.
MGC will therefore be running a men’s Seniors Open morning on Monday, September 30 from 10am (gather at 9.45) until 12.30 where you will have the opportunity to use the practice facilities under the expert eye of our resident professional, Alex Oldham, assisted by trained Academy volunteers. We will also be offering a golfing taster session with the opportunity for you to use the pitch and putt course or play a few holes on the main course. Bring your own clubs if you have them – equipment can be provided if you do not. Sensible walking shoes would also be advisable – trainers would be fine.
After golf, you will also be made very welcome in the clubhouse at lunchtime where light refreshments will be available.
If you would like to take advantage of this offer, contact Alex, club professional, on 01354 657255 or email alexoldham@btinternet.com
