March Town beaten at home to Godmanchester Rovers while Wisbech Town are humiliated by Bourne Town

March Town and Wisbech Town both suffered disappointing midweek defeats in the United Counties League.

The Hares were surprisingly beaten 3-0 at home to Godmanchester Rovers in the Premier Division South on Tuesday night while Wisbech were humiliated 5-0 at Bourne Town in the Premier Division North on Wednesday night.

March - opening-day winners at Easington Sports at the weekend - never recovered from conceding two early goals at the GER.

Emmanuel Gbejuade scored a brace for the visitors and, although the Hares improved after the interval, Rovers substitute Joshua Hales added a third to compound the home side's misery.

March are back in action when they travel to Dereham in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Two goals inside the opening 13 minutes put newly-promoted Bourne in control of their midweek meeting with Wisbech who had also lost their first game of the campaign against Lincoln United on Saturday.

A close-range strike from Munton was deflected home to give Bourne an 11th-minute lead which was doubled shortly after when Bird slotted home a cross from Martin Tudosa.

Zak Allen nearly added a third goal to a dominant first-half performance with a shot from distance which rattled the Wisbech crossbar.

Bourne put the contest beyond their visitors just before the hour mark when Tudosa did well to win possession before playing in Munton who applied a clinical finish.

The Wakes then finished the contest strongly with two goals in the final three minutes wrapping up a convincing win.

Bird headed home a Munton cross to make it four before completing his hat-trick by arrowing his finish into the far corner of the Wisbech net.
