Janneh on target again as Wisbech beat Clifton All Whites in League Cup
Clifton All Whites 0, Wisbech Town 1
United Counties League Knockout Cup First Round
Wisbech Town have two tough league games this week, after a victory in the league cup on Saturday.
On the back of a hard-fought win at Clifton All Whites in the last 32 of the United Counties League Cup, the Fenmen travel to Sleaford Town, who are ninth in the Premier Division North, but with three games in hand.
Then on Saturday, fourth placed Anstey Nomads, with just one league defeat all season, are the visitors for the 16th placed Fenmen.
On Saturday, it was a 29th minute goal from Mo Janneh which won the game, the attacking midfielder's ninth of the season. But Wisbech saw Kieran Hamilton sent off in the second half for a second bookable offence.
Assistant manager Danny Brooks said: "We have stopped the rot of losing games, which is a positive we will take from this, and we've got a clean sheet, which you don't often get with us.
"he lads at the back were pretty good today and Sisa (Tuntulwana) was our man of the match again They are young players at the back and they did very well.
"We huffed and puffed through the rest of the team but lacked a bit of quality in front of goal, creating plenty of chances but not hitting the target enough.
"But on the whole, we have won the game and we are through to the next game, which is what we wanted."
On the next two games, Brooks added: "Sleaford and Anstey are at the right end of the table but we'll fight to get what we can from the games. We will hopefully have a few more bodies in and we will do the best we can."
