S Tech Prem League – March Town Ladies 2 Leverington Ladies 1

The Hares made it four wins on the bounce in a close and hotly contested game with league leaders Leverington at Robingoodfellows Lane.

Hares’ Abby Grist hit the post in the first five minutes and then ‘keeper Tori Sharpe saved well as Leverington looked dangerous on the break.

Claire Newton set up Josie Turner for the first goal. The through ball was controlled by Turner who hit an perfect lob over the Leverington keeper. 1-0 at half time.

Leverington scored soon after the break when Sophie Swinden finished with a strong shot. The game could have gone either way but it was the Hares who got the deciding goal, when Adele Munday was fouled 25 yards from goal.

Newton took the resulting free kick and it hit the inside of the post before finding the back of the net.

This was Newton’s first goal in 62 appearances.
