Leverington U17 Girls out of Cup after Cambridge defeat

More news, no ads

Leverington U17 went out of the Cambridgeshire U18 League Cup, losing 4-0 to a strong Cambridge City team.

City dominated the opening 15 minutes of the game and scored two quick-fire goals.

Leverington fought back though and started playing some nice football and creating some good openings with no reward.

Millie McClagish and Lauren Davis worked tirelessly up front to put pressure on the City back three and Player of the Match Deanna Boon made some brilliant saves in the Leverington goal to keep the score line at 2-0 at half time.

The second half saw Leverington keep pressing for a goal, with Deanna and the back four standing strong.

Charlotte Wheatley and Maggie Haime made some important tackles as well as Deanna making some more fantastic saves.

But Cambridge then hit back with another two quick goals to make the score line 4-0.

This didn’t dampen Leverington spirits and the girls continued to play, with some lovely passing and moving on the left from Courtney Venni and Vicky Sakaviciute to release Lauren, who unfortunately put her shot just wide of the city post.
