Tracy is now a marathon woman

Three Counties Running Club member Tracy Adams had a fantastic run on Sunday and celebrated a great personal achievement.

Tracy trained for a marathon a few years ago but, for various reasons, she had to pull out during the race.

She took a year off running and battled her demons, knowing she would come back a lot fitter and stronger.

Tracy entered The Peterborough Marathon but COVID happened and, after all her training, the event was cancelled.

On Sunday, Tracy managed to run the 26.2-mile marathon distance with a little help from club members who joined her at different stages (adhering to COVID restrictions) and Dean Clark as bike support.

Tracy finished in a great time of 4:43:55.

Club member Matt Hunter thought he would join Tracy part way through her marathon attempt and run his own fantastic challenge in his longest run to date.

It was rather wet but it didn’t stop him managing a fantastic ultra run of 27.80 miles in a great time of 5:16:48.

* Sunday was the last event at Thetford due to COVID restrictions in the form of the Thetford Trails 10k race.

It was a very wet and muddy two-lap run through the forest at High Lodge, but four club members took it in their stride.
