March duo win veterans’ prizes
Several members from March AC were spread over two races at the weekend.
The gruelling Oakley 20 mile road race gave Toni Alcaraz a personal best, crossing the line first for the club in 2 hours and 35 minutes, and she was 3rd in her age category.
Whilst at Thorney in the 10k race Lee Carey came storming home in a time of 39 minutes 35 seconds. Both Mick Stacey and Geraldine Larham won 1st Vet prizes in their age category. March Junior Liam Lambert completed the Thorney fun run in 14 minutes 14 seconds.

l Fenland Running Club had nine runners in Cambridgeshire at the Thorney RC 10K, two in Bedfordshire at the Bedford Harriers Oakley 20 Mile and two in Norfolk at the Wymondham AC 20 Mile, with well placed finishes and PBs.
At the Thorney 10K with 274 finishers, Richard Hammond was the first FRC home with a PB time of 38:12, Ellen Connolly was first lady home with a PB time of 45:28 and also as fourth LV35. There were PBs for Marc Martin and Julia Oram, who was also fourth LV60.

In Bedfordshire at the Oakley 20, in a field of 787 finishers, Paul Griffin was 67th in a time of 2:26:35 and Jo Clarke was 659th in 3:31:52. At the Wymondham 20, Paul Wiegand finished as second MV55 in a field of 279 finishers in a time of 2:32:58 and Sarah Gauvin was fourth LV4 in a time of 2:41:08.
A week earlier, Rebecca Murley and Jane Holmes were in Nottinghamshire for the East Leake Triathlon organised by 4life Events with a 400m swim, 20K cycle and 5K run. Holmes was 97th in a field of 350 and an overall time of 1:15:16. Murley, in her first Triathlon event, was 164th in 1:21:12.

Many members are training up for the GEAR 10K in early May. Adam Chown and Stewart Harrison are running the Manchester Marathon next Sunday.
