The Hares put in a strong performance to beat a young but competitive Riverside Ladies 7-0.

Kelsey Ramm with a delightful lob, Abby Grist and Eleanor McLeish made it 3-0 at half time.

The Hares continued to play some decent football in the second half, with McLeish completing a hat trick, player of the match Jade Kelly scoring two cracking goals.

March U18 plans

With access to continuously improving facilities at Estover Park, March Town are looking to expand next season with an U18s girls team.

Ladies coach Gary Davis said: “Seven years ago, I helped re-set up the ladies team.

“It was a fun project and with the full backing of the club, the ladies have flourished and are now in the S Tech Prem League and had a couple of appearances in the FA Cup this season.

“It’s great to see that there are more ladies teams in the area now, but the Fens struggle for that u18 age girls group.

“Many girls teams get to u16 and then fold. It means that a lot of the youngsters don’t get the opportunity to develop into the ladies game as they miss that step of u18s and either have to go straight into adult games or get demotivated and give up.

“There are a couple of u16 girls teams in the town and the main aim is to help young players continue to develop in a structured way.

“It’s also a great opportunity for some of the youngsters to enjoy the ladies experience on our game days, training sessions and be involved in the squad. I’m really excited about the project.”

The Hares are also looking for an experienced coach to develop the u18s.Anyone interested can contact Gary on 07824 337771 or davis.cjwjs@gmail.com
