‘No easy games,’ says March Town manager as his team prepare for away game with Desborough Town
March Town travel to play struggling Desborough Town on Saturday knowing that a win will keep them in third place and in the thick of the play-off places.
The Hares beat ninth-place Yaxley in the United Counties League Premier Division South on Saturday, with man of the match Ben Seymour-Shove’s tenth goal of the season, in the 13th minute, enough to secure a 1-0 win.
Now they face an ‘Ar Tarn’ outfit who may be second from bottom but pushed second place Wellingborough Town all the way on Boxing Day in a 1-0 defeat.
Joint manager Ash Taylor said of the challenge: “There are no easy games in this league and you can see that in the results. It is going to be a tough game but we will prepare the right way.
“When we played them here a few weeks ago we did not dominate the game – we scored in the 82nd minute to win 1-0 so we go there understanding it’s going to be a difficult game and we need to be right at it with our attitude and application.”
The Hares were impressive in victory over Yaxley at the weekend and Taylor added: “It was a tough game and we played the best we have in a while. The performance levels were high and the graft in the team was excellent so I’m really happy.
“We played some really nice football on a heavy pitch. We should have scored another goal but the key is, if you can’t do that, then don’t concede.
“The effort and attitude from the whole squad was top rate and they delivered what we asked of them. There was also a great crowd and they would have seen a team working hard for each other.
“Every player was excellent but Ben (Seymour-Shove) was a stand-out, with that little bit of magic and that creativity in the right moments. He scored an excellent goal and his deliveries into the box would have got us another two or three goals on another day.”
