Leverington Sports gaining ground after unsteady start
Games have come thick and fast at the start of the new Peterborough League, with some teams having played seven matches in August.
In the Premier Division, Leverington Sports are seventh after seven games. They started with a 1-0 home win over Oakham United, Aaron Hurrell the scorer.
Daniel Palmer, Louise Garner and sub Swaley Stokes then scored in a 3-3 draw at Holbeach United Reserves before Palmer and Stokes netted again in a 5-2 home defeat at the hands of FC Peterborough Reserves.
Two thrashings followed, 6-0 at Moulton Harrox and 7-0 at Stanground Cardea Sports before they recovered with a 4-1 home victory over Tydd, Kieran Hamilton, Stokes, Callum Young and Garner on target. On Saturday they won 2-1 at Wittering Premiair, Hamilton and Garner the scorers.
Newly-promoted Chatteris Town started with a 5-1 defeat at Sawtry, Sam Bond on target. They then lost 3-0 at home to Deeping Rangers Reserves and 2-0 at home to Warboys Town before Alfie Baker and Bond netted in a 2-0 win at Deeping United.
The Lilies then enjoyed a 5-0 home win over Ramsey Town, Bond grabbing a hat-trick and Andrew Howell and Lewis Stannard also scoring. On Saturday they lost 1-0 at home to Whittlesey Athletic Reserves.
Just below them in the table are Tydd, who started the season with three defeats, 3-1 at home to Deeping Rangers (Matthew Cousins), 3-0 at home to Moulton Harrox and 2-0 at home to Sawtry.
Jamie Cogings then netted twice in a 2-1 win at Holbeach United Reserves before visitors Ramsey were beaten 4-3, Kyial West, Jack Minchella, Cogings and sub Brad Easey scoring. They then lost 4-1 at Leverington Sports.
In Division One, Wisbech Town Reserves have made a poor start. Nathan Gomez scored in a 5-1 home defeat against Yaxley Reserves before Leandro Borges was on target in a 7-1 drubbing at Whaplode Drove Rovers.
They then lost 8-0 at Hampton United before securing a 4-4 draw at Whittlesey Athletic Development, Braidon Coupland getting one and sub Borges helping himself to a hat-trick.
Matthew Pope netted in a 6-1 defeat at Stilton United and then came the first win of the season, 13-0 at home to Long Sutton Athletic. Borges scored five this time, with two each for Harley Murkin and Dylan Rust, and one apiece for Braidon Coupland, Gomez, Ryan Rouse and Matthew Scott. on Saturday they lost 5-0 at Glinton & Northborough.
Bottom of the table Long Sutton opened the season with a 4-0 home defeat to Stamford Belvedere and then drew 2-2 at home to Whittlesey Athletic Development, Calvin Bird and James Ward scoring.
There were then three more home defeats, 3-0 to Warboys Town Reserves, 4-1 to Whaplode Drove Rovers (Bird) and 4-1 to Glinton & Northborough (Jack Baker). Then came the heavy loss at Wisbech before a 4-2 home defeat to Park Farm Pumas in the Challenge Cup on Saturday, Adam Crane and Martin Ward netting.
Sutton Bridge United have made a great start to the season in Division Two with four straight wins. Sam Cooper, Matt Eaton and Jack Thomas each grabbed braces as YDP were beaten 6-4 on the opening day and then Eaton got another two in a 5-3 win at Leverington Sports Reserves, Matt Garner, Thomas and Matthew Wayman also on target.
Stamford Belvedere Reserves were then beaten 4-0, Jake Lally scoring twice and Mark Garner and Benjamin Thompson also netting, before Tydd Reserves were beaten 6-2, Garner getting a hat-trick and Jordan Collison, Sam Cooper and Robert Hook also notching.
On Saturday they lost 7-6 on penalties at Whaplode Drove Rovers in the first round of the Challenge Cup, after a 1-1 draw.
Leverington Sports Reserves have lost all four of their games, 5-3 at Hampton United Reserves, 5-3 at home to Sutton Bridge United, 3-2 at home to Bourne Town Reserves and 3-2 at home to Peterborough Polonia.
Kai Mackie scored twice and Grady Goode also notched in their opening game, Alex Albutt, Samuel Fabela and sub Ricky Melton scored in their second game and Fabela and Wesley Stokes in their third.
Tydd Reserves have lost both their league games, 5-3 at home to YPD and 6-2 at Sutton Bridge, but beat Crowland Town Reserves 5-1 in the Challenge Cup on Saturday, Matthew Cousins scoring twice, Daniel Cassidy, Jordi Henson and Kai Scott-Henson also on target.
Long Sutton Athletic Reserves have made a decent start in Division Three. They opened with a 4-3 defeat at Ramsey Town Reserves, Adam Crane netting twice and Simon Adcock also scoring. They then won 3-1 at Whaplode Drove Rovers Reserves, Patrick Jones scoring twice and Jack Earnshaw also on target. Adcock also scored in a 1-1 draw at Uppingham Town Reserves.
Leverington Sports A have started with four straight defeats, 5-3 at home to Park Farm Pumas A, 8-2 at home to South Lincolnshire Swifts, 3-1 at home to Wittering and 3-0 at home to Moulton Harrox Reserves.
Mariusz Kudyba, Aaron Smith and sub Harry Barker scored in the opening game, Harley Carvin netted twice against Swifts and Zackary Patrick scored in the third game. On Saturday they lost 10-1 at home to Netherton United A in the Challenge Cup.
In the Cambs County League Premier Division, Wisbech St Mary have won their only game so far, Jake Miller scoring twice in a 2-1 home win over Hemingfords United.
In Senior A, Connor Bancans scored as March Town Reserves drew 1-1 at home to Isleham United. Wimblington lost 1-0 at Bluntisham Rangers.
In Division Three North of the Anglian Combination, Marshland Saints started with a 1-0 home win over Gayton, Callum Rogers scoring. They then beat Easton Reserves 6-0, David Abbott scoring two, Jack Cropley, Charlie Dungey, Eddie McGahren and sub Samuel Cubberley on target. On Saturday, they lost 3-2 at Holt United after leading 2-0 at half time.
