Zoe Wilson bags 3 PB times as Wisbech Swimming Club dominate Round 4 Junior Fenland League at Deepings

Another powerful team performance saw leaders Wisbech Swimming Club dominate its Round 4 Junior Fenland League draw at Deepings on Saturday (Jul 13).

Leading from the outset, the team put in a series of strong swims in the gala’s first quarter to build a 16-point advantage over closest rival First Strokes Godmanchester.

While First Strokes, Deepings and West Norfolk continued fighting hard among themselves for second place, the final result recorded Wisbech first on 202 points, Deepings second (135), West Norfolk third (115), First Strokes fourth (110) and Mildenhall fifth (74).

Of 44 individual races, Wisbech won 30, its squadron relay team adding a 31st. The team’s swimmers gained 28 personal best times, including three for Zoe Wilson and two each for Marija Grikyte, Millie Harris, Ashton Busby, Katie Whittaker, Mateusz Skibinski and Abigail Condon.

The result keeps Wisbech top of the Junior Fenland League table on 20 league points, ahead of Boston on 19. The Lincolnshire club has 758 gala points compared to Wisbech’s 748, however, meaning the title is still within Boston’s reach and leaving the Wisbech youngsters with everything to swim for. The team swims again, at Thetford, for Round 5, on September 14, with the league final following on October 19.
