Scotland and Ireland the destinations for Three Counties Running Club members
Three Counties Running Club members travelled to Scotland and Ireland to take part in two half-marathons with a difference.
Members travelled to Edinburgh to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival.
The festival consisted of different run distances for all the family with races for juniors, 5k, 10k, half and the full marathon.
The half marathon starts and finishes at different points, starting on Potterrow with the picturesque backdrop of The University of Edinburgh’s McEwan Hall.
Organisers believe this is the fastest half-marathon route in the world and there were some fantastic personal bests achieved.
First home for the club was Sam Smithee 1:34:14PB, Sarah Johnson 1:51:18PB, Claire Smithee 1:52:22PB, Naomi Smith 1:56:12PB, Alice Ingman 2:20:41CPB, Sarah Lamb and Lorraine Parker 2:30:35 and Janette Smith 2:34:28PB.
In Ireland, club member Jacqueline McGonigle took part in a great event organised by West-run Wild NI.
McGonigle said: "That this was the hardest-earned Half Medal ever."
The We Run Wild Ni Norn Iron 100 Mile Half Marathon goes from Ballintoy to Portballintrae running along the famous North Coast and the Giants Causeway.
The course is beautiful but brutal with climbing over 1600 feet of ascent and more than 1900 feet of descent and not so much running.
